Vivian C. Thomas
Founder
Born and raised in Colombia, Vivian Thomas moved to the United States as a teenager, where she pursued a career in healthcare. She became a Registered Nurse specializing in critical care and trauma medicine, and her dedication to lifelong learning eventually led her to earn a Doctorate in Psychiatry, Mental Health, and Therapy. Throughout her journey, Vivian remained committed to serving others and advancing her skills to make a broader impact.
Vivian's passion for helping communities took root early, volunteering alongside her mother, a sociology major, in Colombian programs focused on supporting underprivileged neighborhoods. In the U.S., her work continued through involvement with organizations like Caridad Center and Smile Missions, where she dedicated her time to children needing cleft palate surgeries.
Driven by a deep belief that even small, consistent efforts can change the world, Vivian turned her focus to a cause close to her heart—the education and empowerment of young girls in Colombia.
With the unwavering support of her husband Michael, family, and friends, Vivian co-founded the Sharing Hearts Foundation, aiming to give children the opportunities they deserve. Today, she continues this mission alongside her cousin Vanessa, who shares her vision and passion for making a difference.
Vanessa Gutierrez
Co- Founder
With over two decades of experience in public health and a strong foundation in accounting, I am dedicated to leading a mission-driven organization focused on health and development. My deep-rooted connection to both Colombia and the United States gives me a unique understanding of diverse healthcare systems and financial practices. Throughout my career, I have taken on various roles in public health, including clinical and administrative positions, which have sharpened my ability to manage complex programs. My background in accounting further strengthens my capability to ensure sound financial oversight and program management.
My passion for improving the lives of children is at the heart of everything I do, inspired by the values passed down from my grandparents and sustained by the support of family and friends. This lifelong commitment drives me to create meaningful change and to help build brighter futures for the next generation. I aim to continue this legacy of compassion, making a lasting impact in our communities, especially for children in need.
